I wanted to take a few moments today to highlight one of my favorite weekly features from Deadspin.com. Deadspin is the sister site to Gawker.com. The site utilizes their scarcasm, humor and entertaining takes to publish sports previews, recaps and commentaries to keep you up-to-date and thoroughly entertained in the world of sports.
Today is a very happy day! My favorite MMA and UFC news and rumor site, MMAJunkie, just reported that DirecTV has signed a deal with the Versus Channel. What this means for mixed martial arts fans who have DirecTV is the free UFC and WEC events back on the tube. It’s been far too long since Versus dropped off the DirecTV lineup, but the deal comes at a GREAT time! UFC on Versus 1: Vera vs. Jones airs this Saturday night!

As you’ve probably seen in the past, I occasionally enjoy playing around with the Internet Archive to compare sites of today with their previous designs of the past. Today, I decided to do a quick comparison of ESPN from 1998 to 2000. I was going to take it all the way til today, but due to the size of the pics, I’ll instead expand this post into a few extras to showcase the significant design changes. While watching Inside the NFL about a week ago I had the opportunity to see an awesome remix of memorable NFL coach press conferences. DJ Steve Porter created a catchy song that’s stuck in my head. My favorite form of entertainment is watching Ultimate Championship Fighting (UFC) events along with other Mixed Martial Arts organizations such as Strikeforce, Dream, WEC and just about anything else I can catch on HDNet. The NFL Season is set to begin and I couldn’t be more excited! It’s a breath of fresh air and I have zero complaints this season since my Chicago Bears went out and landed Jay Cutler, our first quarterback in my lifetime that is actually a difference maker.
