While the iTunes Application Store has an app for just about anything, if you want to get screencaps of your device, no app is necessary. It’s simple to do, but surprisingly few know about this built in functionality.

iPhone – Hold in the Home button and press the Sleep button

iPod Touch – Hold in the Home button and press the Lock button

Once you execute these steps, you’ll see a white flash. This white flash is your device taking a picture of your screen. The pictures are then saved in your Photos. You can e-mail these screencaps to yourself for use on your computer. I also browsed the iPhone Applications and found few screencap applications. With this built in functionality, an application really isn’t necessary.
