This posting wasn’t originally planned today, but I’ll tell you how one of these programs saved my butt today. After realizing important work photos were gone from my external hard drive, I spent the day searching for free & effective programs to retrieve my lost photos. After trying several programs that either wanted you to pay or were ineffective, I found 3 great programs I’d like to share.
Recuva
Recuva saved the day for me. Recuva is a free program that finds & recovers deleted files on your computer or removable drives. Whether your deleted files have already been removed from your recycle bin or deleted by bugs or viruses, Recuva will fully restore them. Here’s how it works…
1. Specify what you’re looking for; pictures, music, documents, videos or choose to find all files.
2. Choose where your files were
3. If you’ve already scanned without any luck, you can choose “Deep Scan”
4. Hit start and it will find your files.
5. You can then choose to recover the files and select where to put them.
Recover Files Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP/2003 Server/Vista.
Recover Files is another free file recovery program. I found Recuva did a much quicker job and effective job, since it enabled me to specify the exact folder I wanted it to look in. Recover Files is a nice 2nd option to Recuva.
Art Plus Digital Photo Recovery Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP/Vista, USB cable, card reader.
This free tool is specific to photo memory cards. It’s a free tool that lets you recover from accidental formatted digital camera memory cards and is able to read corrupted cards. It works with JPEG, TIF & many RAW files.
Have you ever deleted any important files that you wanted back? These free tools can be lifesavers. I was able to fully restore 21 deleted large JPEG images with Recuva, free of charge. Do you have any programs you would like to share?
