10 Favorite Bookmarks of the Week – 02/19/09

This week has been very exciting! Three outstanding authors from diverse backgrounds were guest bloggers this week! Another big thank you to Kat from Tender Graces and Marcy from The Cooking Rut. They went above and beyond with their articles and the feedback was very positive! I hope to have them back in the future. Tomorrow, Brian from The New Author, will share his expertise with us!

I wanted to squeeze in this week’s 10 Favorite Bookmarks posting. This is a weekly series that I use as a platform to share my favorite bookmarks I’ve recently discovered. The list below is in no particular order. Enjoy!

1. Blogger SEO (Techknowl.com) – Some excellent tips on how to integrate Search Engine Optimization (SEO) into your Blogger blog.

2. A Journey Through Yahoo Answer’s Finest (yepyep.gibbs12.com) – Some hilarious questions and answers published on Yahoo Answers. You won’t believe some of them. This is an older entry, but it’s the first I saw it and wanted to share.

4. The Missing Google Analytics Manual (grokdotcom.com) – I’ve already learned quite a bit from this in depth and must have resource. I highly recommend reading this if you use Google Analytics to track your visitors and traffic.

5. 25 Sites to Find Good Free Vector Files (freelancefolder.com) – I’m always looking for vector files to help spice up my blog posts. This is a solid list of places to find vectors.

6. Scary-Ass Job-Loss Chart Comparing Previous & Current Recession (boingboing.com) – This is scary. Take a look how jobless rates compare to previous recessions.

7. Tech Tools for Teachers (superteachertools.com) – Some very good tools to help you in any teaching environment. I like Classroom Jeopardy.

8. Test Your Blog (seobythesea) – 15 excellent tools to test your blog in so many different ways. I love this list!

9. Artists, Bands & Musicians on Twitter (spreadsheets.google.com) – If you use Twitter and are a fan of music, this is an extensive listing of all the musician’s profiles on Twitter.

10. Quantcast - You probably have heard of Google Page Rank and Alexa Rankings, but did you know about Quantcast? Quantcast ranks you, gives you in-depth traffic information and some informative projections.

10 Favorite Bookmarks of the Week – 02/01/2009

Have you found any interesting bookmarks lately? Here’s my favorite bookmarks of the week. You’ll find everything from a 1981 news report, a newsmap, an extensive freeware listing, website grader, etc. I hope you enjoy. This is a weekly series that I use sites such as Delicious, pupurls, Twitter, Digg & Stumbled Upon to discover and publish my favorite bookmarks.
Also, in preparation of the Super Bowl, you may want to take a sneak peek at the commercials that will be running tonight in both;

1. You Need to See This (1981 Report of Birth of Internet News) (techcrunch.com) – Check out this very intriguing video that predicted the future of internet news.

2. 140 Characters: How Twitter Was Born (140characters.com) – Story of how Twitter grew up and was implemented. Very interesting.

3. Top 20 Social Networks of 2008 (mashable.com) – Nielson Online report that details the social network rankings & statistics and trends. Who do you think is number 1?

4. NewsMap (marumushi.com/apps/newsmap/newsmap.cfm) – A rich, graphical display of news that’s happening right now in the world. Awesome!

6. 5 Fast, Easy Ways to Make Your Website Mobile (& 1 Reason You May Not Want To) (socialmediaexplorer.com) – I used this article to help make a mobile-friendly version of Eazy Cheezy. I chose to use Mippin. Check out how to get the mobile-friendly version of Eazy Cheezy.

7. Website Marketing SEO Score Tool (website.grader.com) This tool is very cool. It gives your site a score that incorporates things like website traffic, SEO, social popularity and other technical factors. It also provides some basic advice on how the website can be improved from a marketing perspective. My grade was an 80.

8. LittleBigWorkshop – Create your own video, artwork or wallpaper. Playstation 3 will be releasing a game called LittleBigPlanet & LittleBigWorkshop enables you to plan your creations with special tools, show off and demonstrate your work.

10. 5 Best People Search Engines (lifehacker.com) – Whether you need to locate someone or you’re just nosy, these 5 tools will help.

4. The Onion’s 2001 Predictions about Bush – This is an article The Onion published Jan 17th, 2001 and it’s kind of creepy how accurate it is.

5. 144 Do-Follow Forums by Niche and Page Rank – If you’re into Search Engine Optimization (SEO), this article will help give you some forums in your niche to help with link-building.

6. 81 Useful Affiliate Marketing Resources (blogtrepreneur.com) – Tools for keywords, affiliate marketing, domain hosting, ad rotators and more.
