While many users simply browse the top charts, the next step is searching to find the right app. Which keyword do you think users are searching for the most?

Thanks to AppBrain, we can find intriguing market stats for not only Android Apps, but Android devices and OS versions. Today, I’m diving into the top 10 keywords Android users are searching for.

The information consists of only AppBrain users and covers searches conducted over the last two days. While not all users use the AppBrain market, these keywords give us a strong indication of what users are seeking the most.

This information is interesting to the casual user, but extremely valuable to developers and advertisers. Here is the top 10.

analog clock (1217 Android Apps) Does Android need to provide a better analog clock on their devices?

evi (9 Android Apps) Android users are clearly craving a Siri-like app.

ring tones (493 Android Apps) Noone uses the small selection of ringtones that comes with their Android device, but do we have a go-to app?

Ice Cream Sandwich (1158 Android Apps) Google needs to find a solution to deliver Ice Cream Sandwich to every device, so we don’t have to patch together launchers, wallpaper and other apps to make us feel like we have the new OS.

adobe flash (446 Android Apps) May be popular search term now, but will be a non-factor in the near future with Adobe pulling their support for the mobile versions

contact (20,233 Android Apps) Users want a better way to manage their contacts and to integrate them with Facebook and other services.

magic locker theme (127 Android Apps) Can’t get any more specific than this. Users are digging the Magic Lock Theme for its clock and lockscreen.

steam (233 Android Apps) The Steam community is quickly growing and users are looking for just the right Steam app.

google sms (1694 Android Apps) People are getting tired of the ridiculously priced text messaging plans. While iOS users have iMessage, Android users are settling with Google Voice until there is a better solution.

clock blue (462 Android Apps) The blue clocks do look pretty sharp on the Android screen. This also ties in with the most searched keyword on the list, analog clock.

So, based on the most searched terms, this tells me Android users want a better clock, Siri for Android, a go-to ringtone app, ICS on their device, a better way to manage their contacts and an iMessage like solution for SMS on their Android.

What are your thoughts about the list?

While Chitika Premium is an outstanding way to make additional revenue from your search engine traffic, I began tinkering with my AdSense Ads. My idea was to create an AdSense version of the 500 x 250 Chitika Premium Ad. Currently, the closest AdSense Ad you can use is 336 X 280. However, AdSense does give you the 250 X 250 Ads. My plan was to create two 250 x 250 Ads, side-by-side to give me the 500 X 250 Ad with AdSense.

I found an easy solution at Digital Point Forums, so I have to credit ARCHKRE. Here’s how to display two AdSense Ads side-by-side to make an AdSense 500 x 250 Mega Unit, similar to the Chitika Premium Mega Unit.

Create 2 AdSense 250 X 250 units.

It’s extremely helpful to add channels to your Ads. It helps you better track your AdSense performance. I titled them “250×250-blended-topfloatleft” and “250×250-blended-topfloatright”

Here’s the code you’ll need:

<div style=”float:left;”>adsense code 1</div>
<div style=”float:right;”>adsense code 2</script></div>

Simply replace the red text with each AdSense Code

Since you’re technically working with two Ads, you can combine two completely different sized Ads, make one text only and the other image only, etc. Here’s how mine looks.

<img

Chitika plays very well with AdSense, giving you the ability to either make Chitika collapsable to your non-search engine traffic or to alternate with your AdSense Ads. I’ve began displaying the Chitika Premium 500 X 250 Mega Ad unit, which has already increased my click through ratio (CTR). It’s also brought value to my readers, since they are finding other great sites based on their keywords.

Chitika Ads are only displayed when a visitor arrives from a search engine. Here’s how it works. Let’s say Jim Bean is looking for some free movie sites. Jim visits Google and types “Free Movie Sites” into the Search Engine. He, of course, decides to click on the Eazy Cheezy link. One thing I’ve realized is there are countless advertisers to use, but not all of them may be for your particular site. I’ve enjoyed experimenting with Google AdSense, Chitika, Commission Junction, PepperJam Networks and others. Currently, I’m using a combination Chikita and AdSense. Below is my attempt to list, categorize and specify requirements for each of the advertisers.

CPC (Cost Per Click)

Per marketingterms.com, the terms pay-per-click (PPC) and cost-per-click (CPC) are sometimes used interchangeably, sometimes as distinct terms. When used as distinct terms, PPC indicates payment based on click-throughs, while CPC indicates measurement of cost on a per-click basis for contracts not based on click-throughs. For example, consider a campaign where payment is based on impressions, not clicks. Impressions are sold for $10 CPM with a click-through rate (CTR) of 2%.

1000 impressions x 2% CTR = 20 click-throughs

$10 CPM / 20 click-throughs = $.50 per click

“The CPM model refers to advertising bought on the basis of impression. This is in contrast to the various types of pay-for-performance advertising, whereby payment is only triggered by a mutually agreed upon activity (i.e. click-through, registration, sale). The total price paid in a CPM deal is calculated by multiplying the CPM rate by the number of CPM units. For example, one million impressions at $10 CPM equals a $10,000 total price.”

1,000,000 / 1,000 = 1,000 units
1,000 units X $10 CPM = $10,000 total price

The amount paid per impression is calculated by dividing the CPM by 1000. For example, a $10 CPM equals $.01 per impression,” (marketingterms.com)

Great news! Blogertize World officially launches September 1st. To date, more than 70% of their adspace has filled and over 2000 bloggers have registered as many have taken an interest. Blogertize World has previously caught my eye and earlier this year I conducted an interview with the CEO and founder of Blogertize World, Mr. Dushyant Bhatia. The interview was very well received and many answers proved to be quite intriguing, most notably profit sharing.

For those new to the Blogertize concept, Blogertize World in simple terms is affordable advertising space for bloggers. Bloggers can purchase advertising space, in the form of pixels, and display their URL linked Blog logo, directly on Blogertize World for a period of 3 years. The adspace is just the start as Blogertize incorporates several other elements into it’s business model. I’ll touch on each element below, which is quoted directly from Blogertize World.

Recent developments have delayed the launch as they have acquired additional startups and wrapped them into their operation. The decision to delay was contingent upon current invested bloggers voting to delay. More than 91% of those invested voted! Recently, Blogertize held an iPhone contest on Twitter and gave away 30 iPhones in 15 days.

Pixel Advertising Space for 3 Years

<p

The larger the button, the higher it is placed attracting more visitors in turn resulting in increased ad revenue.
When I began blogging about a year ago, I thought Google Analytics was all I needed to successfully track the statistics of my blog readers. I soon found Google Analytics is very valuable, but a bit limited in finding more information about your readers. This is where Quantcast comes into play. Quantcast is a free site that provides a ranking for each site and tracks general information such as page-views, visits, page-views per person and cookies. However, the value is in how Quantcast analyzes your specific audience. It tracks information such as age, children per household, education and income levels, male vs. female, business visits vs. home visits, businesses who access your site, etc.

I probably only visit Quantcast every few weeks, but learn something new about my visitors each time I visit. In fact, I just found something quite interesting! I’ve had 2,779 visits from Research in Motion (RIM), from 124 unique users. This is very cool! RIM is the developer of the BlackBerry smartphone and BlackBerry App World and is a very large and successful company. Since covering BlackBerry Apps is one of my priorities, this is a very intriguing.

Quantcast gives you the ability to embed various charts or even download all statistics into a Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet. I’ll cover a few of the charts below, which I have used printscreens to capture for your reference.

This chart provides information on your choice of daily, weekly or monthly visits and you can select the range and get an overall view or make it specific by segment, by gender, age, ethnicity, household income or by using a combination.

The chart below is perhaps the most informative! I get US demographics for my visitor’s gender, age, ethnicity, kids, income and educational levels. This chart is quite valuable if you’re looking to target to a specific audience and advertising.

The next chart shows you where visitors are accessing your site from, their business or home.

Most of this information for all the websites can be seen from the public view, but you can get even more in-depth information from your publisher view once you’re logged in. Quantcast also measures the top 1 million sites. Here is a printscreen of the top 25, along with information regarding the type of audience each site attracts. For example, Facebook is number 3 on the list and has “94M+ U.S. monthly people. The site appeals to a more affluent, teen and young adult, very slightly female biased following.”

As you can see, Quantcast can be very useful to publishers and advertisers. If you are interested in getting your site quantified, you can start by visiting Quantcast and creating a free login. You can then generate a tag, copy and paste it onto your site, then have your site scanned.
<div

In the last few months, I’ve turned down multiple Affiliate Program offers in favor of sticking with good old Google AdSense. However, recently my curiousity is getting the best of me and I’m now moving away from Google AdSense to experiment with other programs. Thus far, I’ve tried AdSense, Widgetbucks, Chikita, pepperjamNETWORK and just signed up for Amazon Associates and Commission Junction. I haven’t made any money with any of the programs (minus AdSense), but haven’t tried to push products or splatter the site with annoying ads. I’m instead attempting to get some familiarity and knowledge of how each work. If I find one I love, I may move forward with the program permanently, but it’s all just experimental at this point.

Below, you’ll find some resources I’ve collected and put together to provide some Affiliate Program options and tools for those interested in going the Affiliate Program route.

Last November, I posted a review about Blogertize, a start-up site that provides innovative advertising opportunities to Bloggers. Blogertize features a business model that consists of several important pillars, such as Pixel Advertising, Shopping Portal, Promotional Quizzes, Contests and more. Blogertize was established in Sep 08 and on Mar 3rd, they announced their new domain, BlogertizeWorld.com. The site has made several improvements, which include moving from a .in domain to a .com domain. It’s rich in design, provides more detailed information and a better overview of current and future plans. Let’s take a look at some of the current and new features Blogertize World provides.

Pixel Adspace for 3 Years

First we’ll take a look at the Pixel Adspace that’s offered. You have the ability to make a one-time purchase and have your logo advertised for a period of 3 years. Charges are based on pixel size and location. Below are the prices, which are based on pixel size and location. The bigger the Button, the higher it’s placed. You simply select your category, choose from the available pixels, add your website link and purchase your Pixel.

Pixel button | First 2,500 bloggers | Remaining 360
Green (4000) $40 $80
Blue (2000) $15 $30

Available Pixels Example

Profit Sharing

Blogertize has plans to share a percentage of total profits after taxes with those who have purchased Adspace. Small portions of overall profit will be distributed to those bloggers on an annual basis, starting on year 2 of operation. However, bloggers would not own stake in the company, but rather receive dividends based on investments. For example, $15, $40, $80 and $150 purchases would have distribution ratios of 3:8:16:30. The more Blogertize makes, the more bloggers would receive. Blogertize will utilize ROI Analytics, which will enable bloggers to track specific statistics about their investments and returns.

Exposure Via Newsletter

Newsletters will be available for each of the 11 segments and distributed on a monthly basis. Each Newsletter will consist of content from Bloggers within the specific category. Bloggers who have invested can submit their 2 best posts each month and the Blogertize Team selects the 15 best stories and posts for each category. The chosen blogger’s stories would also consist of a mention of their blog links.

Blogertize Community

Discussion forum that you can use to ask questions, share ideas or just hang out. The current Blogertize Forum, which I believe may be receiving an upgrade in the near future, has 277 members thus far.

Shopping Portal

You’ll have the opportunity to place shopping portal text links, content or banners on your site. For any purchases made by your referral, you’ll earn up to 75% of the profit made from the convert.

Promotional Quizzes and Contests (Scheduled to Launch 31 May 09)

Blogertize will feature a portal with an arcade, daily contests and prizes.

Market Place (Scheduled to Launch 31 May 09)

You can buy or sell anything and have the option to open up your online shop. This portal will be open to bloggers, artists and entreuprenuers. No listing or final cost fees apply. They require a small annual fee to host your online store. No charges will be required until 2010, so you can host your online store free in 2009.

Blog Inventory Exchange

Exchange banner links with other blogs in your Niche, by adding your blog to the network and displaying targeted ads on your site. I’m interested in using this to potentially replace AdSense, but much will depend upon the quality of the sites who choose to utilize this free service.

There’s also a segment specific blog inventory exchange option. Blogertize connects buyers with sellers of online advertising. Below, you’ll find the current plans for revenue split;

Revenue split:
The revenue split would be 70-30 (Blogger – Blogertizeworld)
The revenue split would be 80-20 (Blogertizer – Blogertizeworld)

I still love the business model and am extremely pleased to see that Blogertize.in moved to a new domain in BlogertizeWorld.com. Based on what I’ve read, the elements within Blogertize.in will all be migrated to BlogertizeWorld.com by May 31st, 2009. This is the date that the market place and promotional quizzes are scheduled to begin and I suspect all purchased Pixels will be displayed on this date as well. When I conducted my interview with Mr. Bhatia in January, I was very impressed with how professional and easy to work with he was and quite pleased with how he answered each question in detail.

I never liked the design of the old site, but the beta site has given me high hopes. I would like to see some navigation improvements, direct links to their blog, newsletter signup, etc. but I feel they are on the right track. They also continue to add more elements and improvements to the Blogertize, such as their partnership with Fulmarxx ShortFilm Festival, the Blog Inventory Exchange and most notably Profit Sharing. I purchased adspace for $15 back in November, since I’m cheap and was hesitant, but as I see the changes and new elements implemented, my confidence continues to grow. I can’t say that I’ll purchase $150 in Adspace, since money is a bit tight and I’m not THAT confident yet, but I am considering purchasing an $80 Pixel. It’s always risky, since the shopping portal hasn’t yet launched, but it could be a risk I wish I would have taken in the long run. I hope you enjoyed this follow-up review. I learned more from studying the site and definitely don’t mind sharing what I’ve learned. I tried not to duplicate any information published in the review or interview.

What are your thoughts about Blogertize? Are there any great reviews I missed? Do you have any inside information or have you heard any rumors? As always, I’d love to get your input.
<div

Thanks to Izzy from Coco-Cola, I’ve added a new clip, which previews Troy Polamalu as Joe Greene in a Coke Zero Ad.

A few days ago, I provided resources for 2009 Super Bowl Commercials, which included 5 leaked Super Bowl Ads. Thanks to YouTube, I’m happy to add 8 more commercials to the listing, with an added bonus of ABC News Ad Previews, the banned Peta Ad, an excellent Doritos submission that may or may not make it & a pretty edgy BudLight Commercial that was identified as a “Secret Clip.”

<span
