As I mentioned in previous Android postings, I’ve downloaded and tried hundreds of free and pay Apps from the Android Market. While many Apps were useful but maybe not my thing, I’ve discovered a dozen or so free Apps that I absolutely love. Today, I took all my favorite Free Android Apps and chose my 5 favorites that I know you’ll love. If you’re looking for Free Android Apps to start downloading, look no further. Start with these 5!
Google Maps is one of those apps that helps set Androids apart from the competition. Free voice activated GPS Navigation (US Only) is fully integrated into Google Maps, transforming your Smartphone into a free GPS that never requires map purchases. This app features Labs (compass arrows, scale bar, terrain layer, etc), business listings, driving, transit and walking directions, traffic and even street view.

Dolphin Browser is the closest mobile browser to Firefox I’ve seen on any platform. Some of the features include gestures, integration with Delicious, YouTube video downloading, multi-touch, tabs and even theme support to allow you to further customize.

Advanced Task Killer Free will help optimize your Android. As you open Apps, they continue to run in the background. This App works by shutting down all running programs or those you select. It simply improves your phones performance and saves your battery.

Facebook for Android is probably the most desirable App on any platform these days. The App has all the basic Facebook features, with the exception of the message inbox, which is my one big complaint. Status updates, news feeds, friends walls, upload photos and share links, etc. You can browse your friends profiles and native photo integration.

Google Sky Map is perhaps one of the coolest Apps ever! This App turns your Android into a map of the sky. Explore the positioning of the stars, constellation, and planets. Like Google Maps, this is one of those unique, must-have Apps.

Task killers are useless and even detrimental for Android. It is not a Windows-based system, it's Linux. If you free memory, your are loosing data which then must be reloaded into memory again at some point.
