As you know, the BlackBerry Browser is the default browser that comes with your BlackBerry, right out of the box. While many BlackBerry users love the BlackBerry Browser some users believe it lags behind the competition. If you are looking for another option or just want to check out some great third party apps, I wanted to mention the two best alternative browsers.  It really comes down to personal preference, but it’s definitely worth giving these two free browsers a try.

Bolt Browser – The Bolt Browser Beta is all about speed. They advertise as having speeds of 25% to 50% faster than other mobile browsers. You can view streaming videos from sites like YouTube and Google and Bolt provides PC-style browsing. It’s definitely worth checking out.

Opera Mini 5 Beta – Opera has the bigger name of the two and has a new Beta Version 5. It offers tabbed browsing, a useful password manager, a visual display of bookmarks when you visit a webpage, lets you search for text within each webpage and offers better scrolling. Opera Mini also compresses pages by up to 90%, which makes pages load quicker.

If you are satisfied with the BlackBerry Browser, these alternatives may not be for you. However, I recommended trying them out. It’s all about having more options and these two browsers provide the best alternatives to the BlackBerry Browser. What do you think? What’s your Browser of Choice?

The BB browser is too slow for me.

While OM5 is a bit faster and has tabbed browsing, it can't access some sites that BOLT can.

Try and check your bank account on OM5 vs BOLT. BOLT will do it without a problem unlike OM5.

Bolt doesn't "force mobile" some sites (like GMail, Facebook etc) as Opera Mini does. However I frequently get the "stuck at 20%" bug and it drives me crazy. I also don't like the split-screen navigation. When I zoom out to "fit page to screen" view, I want to see the ENTIRE page, even though it's very small, because I know what general area of the page my target's located at. I don't want the bottom part intruding in like that, but if I get rid of it, then the resulting zoomed-in page is too large. Opera Mini is better, to me–but with Version 5, I don't like it that they dropped the Blackberry-style menus and text-editor boxes.
