Have you been to any great concerts lately? Some of my favorite live performers have been Korn, The Offspring, Tool and even Snoop Dogg. I haven’t been to a concert in about four years, but I plan to take advantage of the great artists that come to the local area. Below, I’ve provided a few sites and tools to help keep you updated on upcoming concerts, grab some free music and provide recommendations.
Concert News, Events & Tickets
Pollstar – Concert search engine that lets you view the latest concert additions, add or read reviews from concerts you’ve seen, read the latest on the Concert Wire, purchase tickets and much more.
LiveKick – This site gives you a concert search engine, but also provides the ability to import your favorite artists from iTunes, Pandora, LastFM and more. Once you import your favorites, you will get personalized local concert notifications and recommendations.
Setlist - If you’re going to a concert soon and want an idea of what kind of setlist your band may use, this site can come in handy. Setlist is a wiki-like service to add, edit and share setlists from live concerts. They also provide personal tour and song statistics.
Get Concert Music
Internet Archive: Live Music Archive - The Live Music Archive provides free and legal live concert music from countless artists and live shows. You’ll be able to download any concert in various formats, such as mp3′s, from some great live shows.
Concert Vault - This site features an extensive collection of live concert recordings. This site gives you access to both the Concert Vault and Wolfgang’s Vault to bring you 2405 concerts and 332 free or affordable concert downloads.
bt.etree.org - This site is a community to share free live concert recordings of trade friendly artists. You can download concerts via Bit Torrents.
Cool Concert Tools
iConcertCal – How cool is this? iConcertCal is a plugin for iTunes that takes a look at your music library, then creates a calendar (with ticket purchase links) of upcoming events in your area.
Coachella iPhone App - Free App that provides the Coachella set times schedule, interactive venue map and more.
Have you tried any of the sites above? Any favorites I failed to mention? If you’ve been to a concert that you’d like to recommend, please do share your experience.
