Blogertize Beta

Last  November, I posted a review about Blogertize, a start-up site that provides innovative advertising opportunities to Bloggers.  Blogertize features  a business model that consists of several important pillars, such as Pixel Advertising, Shopping Portal,  Promotional Quizzes, Contests and more. Blogertize was established in Sep 08 and on Mar 3rd, they announced their new domain, BlogertizeWorld.com. The site has made several improvements, which include moving from a .in domain to a .com domain. It’s rich in design, provides more detailed information and a better overview of current and future plans. Let’s take a look at some of the current and new features Blogertize World provides.

Pixel Adspace for 3 Years

First we’ll take a look at the Pixel Adspace that’s offered. You have the ability to make a one-time purchase and have your logo advertised for a period of 3 years. Charges are based on pixel size and location. Below are the prices, which are based on pixel size and location. The bigger the Button, the higher it’s placed. You simply select your category, choose from the available pixels, add your website link and purchase your Pixel.

Pixel button |      First 2,500 bloggers |     Remaining 360
Red (8000)                          $150                                           $300
Yellow (6000)                    $80                                             $160
Green (4000)                      $40                                             $80
Blue (2000)                         $15                                              $30

Profit Sharing

Blogertize has plans to share a percentage of total profits after taxes with those who have purchased Adspace. Small portions of overall profit will be distributed to those bloggers on an annual basis, starting on year 2 of operation. However, bloggers would not own stake in the company, but rather receive dividends based on investments. For example, $15, $40, $80 and $150 purchases would have distribution ratios of 3:8:16:30. The more Blogertize makes, the more bloggers would receive. Blogertize will utilize ROI Analytics, which will enable bloggers to track specific statistics about their investments and returns.

Exposure Via Newsletter

Newsletters will be available for each of the 11 segments and distributed on a monthly basis. Each Newsletter will consist of content from Bloggers within the specific category. Bloggers who have invested can submit their 2 best posts each month and the Blogertize Team selects the 15 best stories and posts for each category. The chosen blogger’s stories would also consist of a mention of their blog links.

Blogertize Community

Discussion forum that you can use to ask questions, share ideas or just hang out. The current Blogertize Forum, which I believe may be receiving an upgrade in the near future, has 277 members thus far.

Shopping Portal

You’ll have the opportunity to place shopping portal text links, content or banners on your site. For any purchases made by your referral, you’ll earn up to 75% of the profit made from the convert.

Promotional Quizzes and Contests (Scheduled to Launch 31 May 09)

Blogertize will feature a portal with an arcade, daily contests and prizes.

Market Place (Scheduled to Launch 31 May 09)

You can buy or sell anything and have the option to open up your online shop. This portal will be open to bloggers, artists and entreuprenuers. No listing or final cost fees apply. They require a small annual fee to host your online store. No charges will be required until 2010, so you can host your online store free in 2009.

Blog Inventory Exchange

Exchange banner links with other blogs in your Niche, by adding your blog to the network and displaying targeted ads on your site. I’m interested in using this to potentially replace AdSense, but much will depend upon the quality of the sites who choose to utilize this free service.

There’s also a segment specific blog inventory exchange option. Blogertize connects buyers with sellers of online advertising. Below, you’ll find the current plans for revenue split;

Revenue split:
The revenue split would be 70-30 (Blogger – Blogertizeworld)
The revenue split would be 80-20 (Blogertizer – Blogertizeworld)

My Thoughts Thus Far

I still love the business model and am extremely pleased to see that Blogertize.in moved to a new domain in BlogertizeWorld.com. Based on what I’ve read, the elements within Blogertize.in will all be migrated to BlogertizeWorld.com by May 31st, 2009. This is the date that the market place and promotional quizzes are scheduled to begin and I suspect all purchased Pixels will be displayed on this date as well. When I conducted my interview with Mr. Bhatia in January, I was very impressed with how professional and easy to work with he was and quite pleased with how he answered each question in detail.

I never liked the design of the old site, but the beta site has given me high hopes.  I would like to see some navigation improvements, direct links to their blog, newsletter signup, etc. but I feel they are on the right track. They also continue to add more elements and improvements to the Blogertize, such as their partnership with Fulmarxx ShortFilm Festival, the Blog Inventory Exchange and most notably Profit Sharing. I purchased adspace for $15 back in November, since I’m cheap and was hesitant, but as I see the changes and new elements implemented, my confidence continues to grow. I can’t say that I’ll purchase $150 in Adspace, since money is a bit tight and I’m not THAT confident yet, but I am considering purchasing an $80 Pixel. It’s always risky, since the shopping portal hasn’t yet launched, but it could be a risk I wish I would have taken in the long run. I hope you enjoyed this follow-up review. I learned more from studying the site and definitely don’t mind sharing what I’ve learned. I tried not to duplicate any information published in the review or interview.

What are your thoughts about Blogertize? Are there any great reviews I missed? Do you have any inside information or have you heard any rumors? As always, I’d love to get your input.

First they were planing to launch on April 1 and now they just postponed it till May 31! Also, the 50% discount was first offered till Jan 31 and now 2500 bloggers! Still many of the categories have lot of space empty. They are also planning too many things at same time. I don'e think its that good for a business model!

  4. Ishan, I can understand your concerns. As I've said in the past, much will come down to how it's all executed. They are working on quite a bit at one time, which is why I'm kinda happy that they are postponing and trying to work out all the kinks rather than try and rush it. I would like some kind of sneak peak into what the different pillars are projected to look and feel like. Thanks for the input. I and many other invested bloggers hopes it is a success. I still personally feel pretty confident with the improvements I've seen thus far. They're definitely putting time, energy and resources into Blogertize.

Interesting analysis. I was googling to find more about this startup and bumped into your blog. Quite informative I'd say. It'll be intersting to see how it performs because if this works… pixel advertising could get a new meaning.
