The internet is an amazing resource as we all are aware. The resources are limitless. Back in the old days, if we needed to find a phone number, we’d dig up the over-sized phone book. However today, I couldn’t even tell you if I knew where mine was. In today’s information age, the tools and resources that are provided to us are limitless.
Put away the phone books. We now have a tool, 123people, which is a real-time people search tool. It doesn’t just look for phone numbers, but it finds images, videos, e-mail addresses, social networking, Wikipedia profiles, etc. Just type in first and last name and location. You can also use it to look up celebrities. The results are amazing! Is this a great resource or is it a little too much? I’ll let you decide.
When I typed in my name and state I live in, it found the following..
25 web links – most were mine
4 images – 1 of me and one of my old eazycheezy logo
5 social profiles – 3 were mine
2 e-mails – none were mine
2 blogs – 1 was mine
3 documents – none were mine

This is a little scary. I have a fairly common name and I hate that potential employers might find something associated with my name that’s not even mine!
I agree it is a bit scary, especially if you have an uncommon last name, such as I do. It’s much easier to find information on you. Definitely a powerful tool though.
